The Loft

innocence a child at play
run and duck and get away
up those stairs to the loft
chase he did but at what cost
the veil of innocence soon was lost
on golden hay
we had our way
as eye to eye our bodies betrayed
by gentle yearnings as we lay
the kiss in summer’s bliss
early in the morning mist
I’ll never forget or ever regret
the line I crossed, the woman I met
knowing, I’d never remain the same
in the barn, I lost and won the game

    this I like very much

the veil of innocence soon was lost
    on golden hay
    we had our way
as eye to eye our bodies betrayed
by gentle yearnings as we lay

    excellent a sensual journey

Wonderful take on the prompt. It is innocent and earthy at the same time.

"I’ll never forget or ever regret
the line I crossed, the woman I met"

These are my favorite lines in this poem. To meet yourself after such a life altering experience is a clever way of highlighting the change from girl to woman.

    Good luck in the contest!
