He is leaving this place in a few days.
She lies beside him, in his arms.
Her breath is staggered while she fights tears.
Don't let him know you're sad.
His happiness will fade.
Slow, steady breaths escape sleep.
While the cat curls around a book
In the corner.
The morning light keeps the blanket warm.
Salt paints her cheek.
It's a delicate goodbye.
Author notes
Yeah, I know it's probably rubbish and not close to what you wanted. But this moment, I wanted to write about it earlier. It's still a raw feeling, raw situation so it's difficult to capture it successfully at this time.
