Herd mentality

when copernicus said
Sun is at centre,
pontiffs were angry
It went against their beliefs;
truth was killed
and also person behind truth.

We created Gods
invested beliefs,
with our vested interests;
knit the web of do's and dont's
forgetting,
truths at times run against beliefs.

we shut our eyes
hear 'heresy';
if some one opened his eyes
he was doomed,
called names
branding,
what he said run counter to 'God'
invented by us.

Real God is omniscient,
who gave us eyes to see
ears to hear,
made a replica of him.

we shrink in belief
and non belief,
shutting our eyes
observing manifest,
that gives equally
independent of
mighty and powerless.

Author notes

"Gast Veihgan Du Maunkur"

beliefs killed people, who came out with truths. Copernicus, Gallilieo..Socraes are all victims of prevailing beliefs. Even Jesus christ was crusified. People are gullible, believe in heresy. It takes long time to amend the lie, just as church has come to terms with reality and expressed regret, for condemning Copernicus afer three centuries.

    Just a note: Copernicus was published posthumously - probably to avoid persecution [common at the time]. Knowing this strengthens your write immensely: it adds depth [Galileo, also condemned, built on his work] and it hones your point to its excruciating truth - not just belief, but worse, being correct, can get you muzzled. Or worse. Lovely write, very bold and most skilled at the free flow. Good luck in the contest!
