Staggering, blind and helpless
Lost without hope
The light at the end of the tunnel
Swallowed whole
Battered and bleeding
Seeking refuge
You beckon me with open arms
Empty eyes stare with doubt
I stiffen when you embrace me
But nothing feels as safe
This feeling, I thought forgotten
Are you real?
Warm fingers lace with mine
A welcome heat in this frozen time
And I realize
My light has been with me all along
Author notes
I've been introduced to the world at a young age, which has hardened me drasticaly. I never knew what I was like, until somebody broke my defences for the first time.

Wow. Very painful - after understanding the meaning from your authors notes. If its true, that you've over come that pain (or have someone that you're adjusting to, to help you climb over that obstacle) then you've not only got a true friend but a reason to go on.
