To Lose A Friend (For LimelightLiason)

To lose a friend, means one is
never whole again. When they leave,
a part of our soul is taken with them.

It's hard to lose a friend. I know,
I've been there, hurting.
To have your heart, still beating, ripped
from your body. Never wanting to wake,
never wanting to face the world again.

The pain you feel never truly goes away.
It just dulls with time
like a remembrance bell that rings
within your soul.
It's quiet, but still there.

But know that we, your brothers and
sisters are always here. Your antiseptic
and band-aid, to soothe the aching wound.
You know we're your support,
your constant reminder
that you never walk alone.

Author notes

A warm and loving write for a friend in pain... You've found wonderful words that will help put the pain in perspective... not reducing it but giving it the recognition it deserves so that healing can beging... Well done.

i cannot thank you enough for this. no one has ever really written a poem for me. i am very thankful that i have such a supportive group of friends to back me up during a tough time. as i was reading this i was rendered speechless. for the past 2 years or so, i've been bouncing around from place to place, did some jail time, went through rehab and never had people behind me. i cant put it into words how grateful i am that i have you guys .
