Ruddy Boots

Petals fall from trees that
trace a gentle sombrous absence;
slipped over coats of nostalgia,
we beg for the treats of our past.

Liquid memories gone dry with Time,
our hearts stepped on with ruddy boots;
and strength prevails a curious concordance-
alleviate me

strip the
pain

a w a y . . .

Let it fall down our cradled arms with gratitude,
and look fondly on the blackest nights-
for these have the brightest stars.

Author notes

I feel your pain here, and I just want you to know that even though it's difficult to lose a pet or a family member or a friend, they always live on through our memories. :] Lots of love.
