Crève Coeur

I saw the petals of a rose
Strewn out beside the lake.
I smelt their perfume on the air,
Not sure what I should make
Of pretty petals from a rose
Strewn out beside the lake.

They fell, once rustled, I suppose
From one fair bride's bouquet.
When lovers arms embraced her tight,
The petals fell away.
They fell, once rustled, I suppose
From one fair bride's bouquet.

A mourner spread them just as ash
Perhaps for someone dear.
Could those fresh petals by the lake
Have each dropped with a tear?
A mourner spread them just as ash
Perhaps for someone dear.

A man, rejected, let them crash
Onto the rocks beside the lake
To let them dry and crumble as
His heart began to break.
A man, rejected, let them crash
Onto the rocks beside the lake.

I saw the petals of a rose
Strewn out beside the lake.
I smelt their perfume on the air,
Not sure what I should make
Of pretty petals from a rose
Strewn out beside the lake.

    Beautiful Melancholy...

This poem is mesmerizing in its mysterious wonder... A masterpiece skillfully painted in hues of fallen rose petals. Thank you for sharing your muse with us. Wishing all the best to you. Peace, Cyn
