Innocent Eyes

Streams of blood flowing in the streets
Explosions echoing throughout the city
Ear’s going def, and eye’s going blind
Yet her eyes stay pealed wide open
Her little arms clutched around her weak knees
She shakes from crouching behind a bombed building for so long
She fears the building could crumble on top of her any moment
Let’s put a block on your innocent green eyes
Let’s block you from this hell
Give your hand to me dear one, I’ll stand you up
Walk you out of this butcher shop

Fire licks at her around every corner
Keeping herself as close to the wall as possible
She can hear bomber plan’s flying past
Yet her desperate eye’s stay pealed wide open
Thick smoke smog’s her lungs
Stinging her eye’s they water
She’s not sure if its tear’s because she’s sad
Or tear’s because of the smoke
Let’s put a block on your innocent green eyes
Let’s block you from this hell
Give your hand to me dear one, I’ll stand you up
Walk you out of this butcher shop

A bomb goes off near by
Throwing her frail hands to her ears she whimpers silently
Her eye’s stay open, her mouth stay’s closed
She wants to scream but fear’s if she does
She doesn’t want to end up like her dear mother
She watched what happened to them
Her innocent eyes wide open
A late night when she couldn’t sleep
An American soldier waltzed into her house
Raped her mother
She watched as her mother cried in shame
Raped her sister
She watched as her sister cried in pain
Killed her brother
She watched as her brother starred at her
Innocent eye’s unblinking
He looked back at them as if he had never seen something as beautiful as them
He whispered
Let’s put a block on your innocent green eye’s
Let’s block you from this hell
Give your hand to me dear one, I’ll stand you up
Walk you out of this butcher shop

As gunfire rings out nearby
She catch’s back her mind
Innocent eyes wide open she stares at the soldier standing right in front of her
Frightened she gulps down a scream
He bend’s down slowly, and holds out his hand
And with an American flag on his chest he whisper’s
Let’s put a block on your innocent green eye’s
Let’s lock you from this hell
Give your hand to me dear one, I’ll stand you up
Walk you out of this butcher shop

Slowly she raises her hand, resting in his big grasp
She walks hand in hand with the soldier
Quickly they run across the street
Her weak knees can’t carry her
He lifts her quickly off her tiny sore feet
Clutching her in his arms he races fast
But it’s too late
An enemy soldier pops out of nowhere
Shooting down the soldier that holds the dear child
Not caring that he missed
Not caring that he hit between the innocent eyes of the child

Let’s put a block on your innocent green eye’s
Let’s lock you from this hell
Give your hand to me dear one, I’ll stand you up
Walk you out of this butcher shop

You captured the very core and heartwrenching reality of war and how there is little remorse, to leave children alone even.
