Yesterday was groovy while today is such a bore.
My Lucy that once held me, now holds me nevermore.
And though I took advice from Mrs Desmond Jones,
I still feel a hollow aching in the marrow of my bones.
Yesterday she loved me, and everything was sweet.
But now without her near me I can barely make my feet.
And poor old Mrs. Robinson from unit twenty-three,
thinks it's a damn fine thing that lovely girl is through with me.
Yesterday I knew just what the future held for me.
And for people all around me it was bright enough to see.
But now without my Lucy nothing ever seems quite right.
And yesterday keeps fading out into the starry night.
I've tried to move it forward and go on with the show.
Dating long tall Sally was maybe not the way to go.
But Maggie Mae and Lizzy both remind me so of her.
And little sexy Sadie just can't get my heart to stir.
I spent some time with Jude to see what wisdom he could share.
And in a breath he told me that I only had to care.
"Take Prudence, man, she digs you" he told me with a wink.
And it made perfect sense to me as I began to think.
You see this Prudence also has a yesterday of pain,
and doesn't know if she can ever love someone again.
But we can surely try I mean it's not like we're both dead,
if we keep in mind our yesterdays and all of what Paul said.

Author notes
I decided to run with the Yesterday lyric clip.
“Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday”
Hope this worked. Huge Beatles fan here and if I whimper, it's only because we have a one entry limit in place.

Well, I was actually working on a Beatles set anyway, kind of a poetic anthology. Never know, it might get somewhere, but right now, I prefer their lyrics to mine! And if you think this is cool, wait until you see some of what's not yet posted. I think you'll dig it.

this is really cute and clever and made me smile

but isn't Mrs. Robinson from Simon and Garfunkel? (although there's a Paul there, too...) -

I knew someone would catch that. I removed it the first time, then justified it the same way, hey it's a Paul , too! But now I'm thinking of changing it. Never know till it's done though, and it's still stuck in my head....
