Your Picture

i put your picture on my phone
that way i can never start to forget you
the way you smiled
the way you cocked your head to one side
or the way you perked your ears toward me when i talked to you
i cry until i can no longer cry
and then i cry more
when i feel sick from crying i try to stop
but the tears keep flowing anyway
when i close my eyes
all i can see is your perfectly shaped face
the perfect ears
the perfect band across your nose
your warm comforting brown eyes
you could have won so many trophies for that face
i never trained you
you were too free
you were too much like me
now all i ask
is that you wait for me at those pearly gates
wait for me to come to you
it may take a while but please be patient
i will always try my hardest to make it there
even if it means only seeing you for a second
that would be another second i would cherish
that would be another second that i could tell you how much i love you
that would be another second that i could tell you how perfect you were
another chance to say bye,
but just as i stop crying
i feel my heart pounding
the heat rising in my face again
i start to cry all over again.

sorry this is soo long.. He saved me, and i never got the chance to save him...His name was Patches and yes he was a dog...but he was more like the child i will never have..

    awww, that's so sad, i know i've felt that way when i've lost my cats, it's hard to loose your best friend, even if they are the four legged kid, great poem, best of luck in the contest

    I am so, so sorry for the loss of your dog; this is really raw. I've never lost a dog, but I dread the day when my beloved Border Collie will die.

    Oh honey my heart breaks with yours this day

    I know exactly how you are feeling for I have gone through this same thing with my dog Baby and soon with my dog toosweet . My heart breaks when I lose my loving pets for they are so much a part of my life and always will be untill we meet again . I so believe animals know what we are thinking and believe me your pet knew of this love you held for it . Together we shall all be again one day in heaven believe this honey for animals are the purest form of Gods creations . Please talk to me anytime if I can help
