There you go, talking about her again
And here I am, stuck as your best friend
I know you care, and I know that its true
Cause I see you watching me just like I'm watching you
There seems to be a fire in our eyes
And everytime we hug it rockets to the sky
Then she goes and pulls you away
The lying girl you hold hands with day after day
Everyone thinks we should be together
All our friends swear we would last forever
Late last night texting in our beds
I read the words you couldn't have meant
But there they were, my name and all
Claiming you had long since started to fall
Fall for me, just like I did for you
All these times, when it was just us two
But here we are stuck as just friends
As you tell her you'll be there to the end
She needs you, your green eyes seem to say
But so do I at the end of the day
And here I am stuck as your best friend
In love with the one for whom my life began
And who lives for another girl
Someone who just barely can fit me in his worl

Thank you for entering my contest! I haven't had a chance to reply to any of the poems until now. I like that this poem has a similar form/style to the prompt. I also liked that you talked about how it feels to be the person's best friend and have to listen to them talk constantly about the person that they love and how much that hurts. A truly great piece
