Here Kitty, Kitty!

Biskit loves to be in uncle Garry's lap
Who pretends to not like it one bit.
A new one named Gravy has made it here,
And my uncle says, "We're not keeping him."
Yet when I saw the fuzzy kitten contentedly
Beside him, dozing, I didn't believe a word of it.

I imagine, though, if my uncle
Turned into a mouse, what
These cats would do.
They'd have a blast, of course,
Chasing him all around.
After they were done running a marathon,
There would be tea, mouse included.
They would talk about books,
Treats, going Outside (Shhh!), & more.
As soon as they were well-rested,
My uncle, a mouse, would run off,
Followed by Gravy & Biskit.

Out of my day dreaming I come.
My uncle's asleep in the recliner...
...snoring away the light of day...
...with Gravy on his shoulder.

Author notes

The prompt number is 2. I'm not gifted at putting humor in my poetry, but I gave it a shot. This is a real story. We have three cats at present: the 3rd is a girl named Shadow. My uncle named Biskit, whose original name was Sparky. He claims to HATE cats, but I've seen him with them & very definitely disagree. Quietly, of course.

everyones a cat lover when all is said and done,,,we all give them a clap of friendship and theres nothing better than to have a kitty snuggle on your knee in the cold days purring away contented... the story itself was funny, picturing them all at play, cat and mouse games, well done..Thank you for this and for entering.

      my brother from another mother

Thank you for the kind words & the trophy! I can't believe I actually won 3rd place! I thought I'd get an HM at best. I love cats, & dogs, too. Cats are great at getting their humans to do what they want, especially when it comes to affection time.

      Thanks again, Mike!

First of all, check out my status as a NON-paying member of AP. There's no kitten backgrounds for us poor folks. Second, no, I don't have nearly 6 bucks/month to spend on graphics & pretty backgrounds. Third, thank you so much for reading my poems! & last, but not least:

      luff choo too. Crazy Lady.

Did it make you laugh? From the way you worded that comment, it sounds like you might've laughed out loud. I hope so. I tried writing this poem 4 different ways before finally settling on this one. So glad you enjoyed my attempt at poetic humor.

Thank you. & many more blessings to you.

Especially ours! They don't catch mice; they just try to play with them.

      Thanks for your comment!
