In other words is there a cogent thought,
a simple reason for an enigmatic lot?
Perhaps it is just too obscure to see?
Even repetition fails to fight obscurity!
Or else the flaw is simply just in me.
I never saw consuming puzzle equally
confuscating as compared to this! Perhaps
the simple loss is just a minor lapse
of cognitive capacity, and that collapse
--attributed to my advancing age-- mishaps
and other lost acuity. Excuses sought
cannot reveal great truths beyond just what
it's NOT.

Ever the philosopher poet.

No, it's NOT just in you. As for cognitive capacity, I already feel that and I am only 57! You are quite sharp, I think. But I do think "cogent thought" is becoming rather scarce all over.
Enjoyed your write. -

Sigh, yes.
Thank you Judith. The question becomes, "but is it sharp enough?"
Half kidding.... There's a lot of that going around.

Full of reflection with a bit of humour. Enjoyed it very much. It's clever as well as thoughtful.
I like Margaret's work as well and have a sonnet of hers hanging on the wall.

Thanks for your original and amusing poem as comment, Terry. We can ask why the universe exists, and why it does this and that, and make up any number of answers, but the universe confirms none of our assertions and dogmas. It is the way it is, defying rational analysis and proofs of faith alike.
Your last sentence sums up perfectly.

Thank you M.
Actually I ran out of things to say!
Life gets so simple sometimes!

The easy way out is not to try too hard. Axiom 2.
Thank you!
