fragile beauty tiptoes
through muted shadows
a woman-child of supple grace
fairy tales still echoing
while yearnings flutter
of dreams unrealised
saffron clouds swirling
misty sandalwood reflections
through life's looking glass
vanilla ice-cream wishes and
lacy party dresses put aside
for silk stockings and perfume
with delicate steps she glides
an enigma, swathed in
rose pink de-lustered satin

Beautiful free verse. I have a hard time writing outside the parameters of rhyme and meter (some say I have trouble within those parameters as well! DOH!!!)
You've done an exceptional job creating verbal filigree, supplying more space between the intricate gold filament lacework than what the filament utilizes itself, yet stunningly beautiful when appreciated on a finger, or in this case, off the tongue.
Congratulations on a well-earned gold trophy for your work.
