Words bite
on tender skin,
freezing a river
as wide as the universe.
The wonder of womanhood
blanketed beneath
casual hands,
mistaken for tenderness,
left icy memories
imprisoned upon
every December to come.

"a river/as wide as the universe" may be a bit hyperbolic, in fact i think the poem really is the second stanza which is quite nice

This poem is great -
I especially love the last stanza & "casual hands mistaken for tenderness" & the use of "imprisioned"
as if somebody ruined the beauty of December for you. Anyway, good job, good luck in the contest.
-
