Burning Colors

These eyes have seen colors
Green, your lively eyes
Orange, his new love’s mustang
Pink, the lipstick smeared across your quivering face
Blue, the tears rushing in waves
Red, the blood that washes ashore
Yellow, the color of your withering skin
Black, infection breaking over your wounds
Brown, drying blood caked to your soul
Gray, your lifeless eyes I gaze into
White, the angels taking you from this world

These eyes have seen colors
Green, smiling for the world to wonder
Orange, Jealousy for the world to loath
Pink, sniffling for the replacements heart
Blue, Crying and gasping for new breath, new life
Red, giving into the world’s harsh ways
Yellow, death’s slow stride
Black, eating away your failures
Brown, the badge of a long war
Gray, the final peace at last
White, the world after our hatful hearts

These eyes have seen some colors
But these eyes turned gray before they could see them all

Author notes

I was just looking at a picture, and starting writing. Not the best, but an odd twist of the norm.

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!
