The time has come when a new couple must find their blessing for eternal matrimony in the southern town of Ankh. there, in a cave, Seloria and Alexandria are searching for the wedding stone that is required for each new bond.
They are holding hands…
Alexandria:
Oh Seloria my heart doth
Pain These cavern walls cannot con-
Tain Desires to discover
stones of Matrimony
oh if only we could find
a way to sanctify our bind!
Oh Seloria my heart doth
Ring of things to sing to you but
Sting it shall till we can trace
A way to rediscover stasis
Then we may travel to far cried places.
Oh Seloria…
Seloria:
Alexandria my heart is
Shuddering with expectation
We’ll return to our great nation
With a stone of marriage be
Should we fail I’ll not pale,
For your eyes are confirmation
That your souls a consolation!
Alexandria to have known
You is such a blessing, it is
Too much to expect to
Spend the rest of my life with you,
But I love you…
Constance:
And so our love struck heroes search evermore for the stone of marriage, all is well, all is quiet, until a rumbling can be heard above their heads.
Seloria:
Alexandria what is that
Noise it rattles down my spine.
Its approaching fast denoting
That something will strike us soon.
Alexandria I love you,
But I cannot show my love,
for Alexandria my fears from above.
Alexandria:
Then step you to one side my love for
I will step one too,
And if something should come in between us
Least we’d be unscathed.
For a scar on you is a scar on me
And I’ll not live to see us scarred.
For like our love that is untainted
We should too remain unmarred.
Seloria:
What is that, what is that!?
Its falling fast I can hear a scraping sound,
Like the wings of angel against cavern rock
Come back to me my love.
Alexandria:
Tis alright, Tis alright
Though its falling fast it shall faster pass
If we move away,
Like the soul of an angel that’s flying away
I will come back to you soon my love.
Constance:
Before any more words of reassurance could be spoken, the roof caved in and between them fell a lifeless Seraph, light pouring in from the hole above blinding them both.
Alexandria:
Heavens above what is this blight
That sears my eyes with light?
Like Seloria predicted its an angel convicted
And fallen to Earth twixt us two!
Seloria my love! Seloria my love!
Where from this place have you flown like a dove?
I wish you were here, stood right next to me,
For error of mine had left enough time
For us be together whence this Seraph had fell.
I shall weep for your gone
And your love I have none,
But I wish you would chance me again…
Again I say I love you,
But twice you hear me not,
Seloria you are glorious
But I feel I have been…
Shot by your change
Shot by my ways,
I am sorry I let,
Archaic angels get
In between us and now you have gone.
Oh Seloria…
Interval: The Sonnet of Lost Love
Thou first days alone Alex in arms of shadow
Thy arms are of longest night through blocked azure
And though Seloria has fled from this world I remain unsure
My heart still beats once for me and twice for you
One should see, for nothing my heart makes much ado
This cave I tread is the bane of my marriage to you
Such irony, twas once a grotto of greatness for couples wed
Instead this shall be for our love a deathbed
Or it would be were my soul not so entwined
Twixt mine and thou, so loves deathbed i disavow
To your hand and heart I shall endow
and for one night your pain i'd rather allow
thou through my love a bad analogy i'd much conceal
To know you feel pain knows you feel
Constance:
Night has fallen, and all are in bed, Alexandria is sitting swathed in moonlight
When he speaks to Judicium the elder of the village, who takes the form of the bones of a long dead dragon. Judicium communicates through telepathy.
Alexandria:
Judicium you must tell me
Where Seloria is I can’t
Bear to be without my love, has
She forsaken me?
Judicium:
You have lost the one you love
Because you agonize her,
You were distant though you loved her
Now she’s distant too.
But don’t despair my good fair-haired
Friend I see her now,
She is sat atop a tower
And yes I too see how.
She is situated north of
Plated mountains full of threat.
But don’t be disconsolated
For man of Airship you have met.
I believe you could conceive
A plan to win her back,
For believe or not
Acwellan’s got
Your precious little maiden.
Alexandria:
Acwellan!? That bounder?
His plans I’ll have to flounder,
Fetch me ships that sail the sky
And fetch my tanto too!
Judicium:
I’m just some bones you silly boy
I cannot materialise these toys!
Now wish you shall need if you want
To Succeed you should travel to
The wish caverns where you lost your
Love and inside you will find…
A token, a token for a flight…
Alexandria:
Will I find a sword to fight?
Judicium:
You will acquire
Whatever you desire
But hasten you must not forget.
Acwellans masquerade begins
In an hour you must show your
Power if love is to flower.
Get you gone,
Get you gone you little misadventure,
and prove to her your overture
of rescue reaches fruition.
Interval: Judiciums Observations
As the strings of a beautiful autumn evening lower
the ensemble begin their waltz as the leaves dance,
cascading into incandescent masses.
The concerto begins, con fuoco, slower yet
and it lullabys the phosphorent feast to sleep.
Following after but for eight bars in,
The stars begin an elegy for the remains of the day
Mysterioso so flowing for a time that seems to clock an eternity,
Ticking away.
And this concert i watch, every night, i enjoy front row centre.
I am a guest of honour, i enjoy distinction, and the knowledge
that i may remain forever here as a pile of wretched rot, yet in their futile seconds of life, a falling leaf, a gust of wind, a midnight star,
a flickering ember, or the cold rain which falls daintly upon myself
is more beautiful in its ensemble than i may be in a thousand years.
Then, when i think it cannot get any more humbling, i turn to follow the sound of a Bechstein grand, only to be graced with its divine rattles,
and to realise, such a pretty choir may sing at a funeral.
Constance:
And so Alexandria, blinded by love goes to her rescue, better sighted than ever before. Meanwhile…
Seloria:
Alexandria,
Alex I
thank you for times that saw us
bind I wish you heard me now I
wait for you to come to my aid.
For we’d just realised
when we met in our eyes,
under darkness and starlight
you are the one…
The father of our unborn son…
Acwellan:
Here I make my infamous remark
I hope he dies,
For you are just beautiful and I am handsome too
I tell no lies.
Come our ball awaits I take you
To a masquerade.
Let yourself go with the flow
And your love for him will fade.
I will make
You see I take
Your hand in mine
I have no time
so-
Seloria:
Get off mine!
These hands are fine
Placed on the balcony!
I look to the south with quivering mouth
For He will, come, to me…
Constance:
Acwellan grapples Seloria, not realising she holds Alexandria’s son,
He forces her into a masquerade outfit complete with carriage gloves and masque. They travel seven flights of stairs downwards until they reach the ballroom dance.
Acwellan:
Look at what I can give you I
Hope you like it too,
For this did not come too cheaply
Your not leaving soon!
I will make you dance!
Seloria:
I don’t want to dance!
Acwellan:
You will dance to my plight
For i'm sick of this fight
Whereby i reside in hate
and hide in wait
to create a golden estate
Seloria:
What can i say to you
apart from adieu?
Acwellan, i will never
endeavor to do anything but fly
from this place to Alex
i shall try, or else i shall die!
Acwellan:
I will make you fall in love with me…
I will make you fall in too deep…
I will make him pay, for today
Is mine to shine…
Alexandria:
Not so fast you scoundrel I will
Fight you to the death!
Seloria:
Alex! You found me but wait,
These guests are all innocent and to
become one with the crosshair of hate is far
accrue from your emotions of bete noire
Alexandria:
Then ye that want not death
as a result of my angerous breath,
where i point, there is the door
and there it shall be, evermore!
Acwellan:
No! this is my party this cost
Dearly like you shall too!
You have made my guests leave early
My reputation lies in shards!
Alexandria:
Seloria is mine!!
Acwellan:
Seloria…
Both:
Is mine!!
Acwellan:
Then we duel!..
Constance:
And that they did, with passion and with honour, and Seloria could look but on with terror, she saw the passion that Alexandria fought with, she knew he could be an inspirational father, she saw the potential for paternity within him.
Unable to control herself…
Seloria:
Alexandria! You are a father!…
……………………………………………………
Alexandria ceases to fight…………
……………………………………………………
Acwellan:
And with my blade I orphan it!
For no son can I bear!
I’m as baron as my kingdom I cannot
See why I live!
Constance:
And the blade wielded by Acwellan pierces Alexandria’s heart….
Acwellan:
I can see no reason why you deserve…
A family and castle in reserve!
Alexandria:
What….are you talking about?
Seloria:
ALEXANDRIA!!
Acwellan:
You both came here, to rob my home!
Alexandria:
I do no such thing
I wish to be no king,
That… jobs…for…….you!
Seloria,
Seloria…..
Look after my son…
Acwellan and Alexandria:
Seloria,
Seloria,
What have I done?!
Constance:
Alexandria falls to his knees, a tear falls even further, as blood seeps from his embroidered shirt. Tears fall, blood falls, weapons fall, Alexandria falls.
Seloria:
Alex… get up Alex,
I cannot stand for your death,
As it were, it took my own breath.
Constance:
Seloria walks towards one of the many large windows that adorn the wall of the ball room, specifically the one that Alexandria came through.
Seloria:
I feel the blood that flows through
my veins And the soul inside
myself it feels it broke my pride
to say those words that ended his days…
I have destroyed his mind too many
Times…
once, twice, three times a curse for Alexandria
Maybe I’ll leave and follow him further......
Interval: Seloria's Eulogy
Where do I begin?
Alex was a great man, and in many ways
A role model for all lovers,
He brought an air to romance only
Known previously when Angels danced with Gods.
I am an angel oftentime he said
And I have danced with the Gods
But Gods may fall, indeed...
Gods may fall...
But did not Lucifer fall and become a Deity of power?
only in felled life may love live on.
Perhaps, perhaps...
Perhaps the day has come for me to fly with the Gods who danced in such a way to fall to such a macabre ball.
Let us Dance Alexandria, let us dance.
Acwellan:
And whence did Acwellan, a villain so vile in the eyes of unknown men,
wish for such an opposed ending to a fairy tale?
Never, for Acwellan has a heart, a soul, Acwellan may dance with the Gods if he so wishes, Acwellan may observe a concerto of a thousand dying talents, Acwellan may sing for the one he loves, but alas, my throat is dry, and the time for closure is drawing closer. Acwellan dies a little inside, but remains pink in pigment 'til the very end.
Constance:
Seloria jumps out of the window. Acwellan falls to his knees, Seloria falls….
The curtain falls, and a choir begins to play,
for such a sweet sound may be played at a funeral.

Very lengthy!!!!
This is very interesting. I can see the tremendous amount of work you have put into the making and writing of this. It is basically a short play, a tragedy actually. Very well done!
I will comment as I go. I wish you had said in the title that it was lengthy, if it were in the shameless I might not have read all that, but seeing as those are hard-earned points in the featured section, I won't be mean.
*You are using archaic language in "doth" and in the inverted structures, so the part where Alexandria says "It's ok It's ok" is out of place, you can say "'Tis alright, 'tis alright" instead, because 'ok' is informal.
*Also, here, "I wish you were here, stood right next to me," I believe it should be "standing" (I can't remember why now, but it has something to do with the wishes)
*In "I shall weep for your gone" I believe you mean 'you're' short for "you are", why don't you use "thou art gone"?
*In the sonnet of Lost Love, do you intentionally use a small 'i'?? Because otherwise, it is incorrect. Also, I feel that in some parts you mix between "thou" and "though" especially because you use "you" in the last line of the sonnet. The Sonnet over all is rather confusing!
*"Alexandria is sat swathed in moonlight" I believe you mean is "sitting", this might have been acceptable in Shakespeare's time but the grammar has changed! (My History of Language course is affecting me!)
*You cut your lines in weird places, especially when you cut words like here:
Here I make my infamous re-
Mark I hope he dies," why don't you just put "remark" in one line. You did that earlier in the poem as well which struck me as well, and was just weird!
Also in this verse:
"I will make
You see I take
Your hand in mine
I have no time so-"
The line is very interrupted here, I had to read it twice to connect it together. If it is for the rhyme, here is a suggestion: "You, I will make/See me take/Your hand in mine/I have no time-"
*I just realised you do not intentionally use a small 'i' so I recommend you edit that because it stands out to the reader.
The background matches the write perfectly. I liked this, though it is tragic, it is also very interesting, and not one of the love stories I am familiar with. Sorry my comment is long, but the write is very lengthy!! (not what I expected)
Keep on writing and good luck in the contest.

Thanks :)
Thank you very much for your brilliant reply, that is exactly what i was hoping for, i have noted these pointers and i am making corrections, as for the sonnet however, that will remain the same (I changed the I's) the point of it is to show that Alexandria is hoping for anything that would mean Seloria is still alive, even if it meant she were in pain, at least she would feel something.
I will be adding more of these sonnets in later, so check back anytime if you want to, but thank you for this very lengthy comment.

No.
I found my mind wandering through this. It's a very nice short story, but there were some things I didn't like about it. The "baby" in the story was the biggest thing I disliked. I don't think it was very effective to the story. This is all just my opinion though
However, I do like how detailed this was, and how easily it read. Please wait for the other judges to comment.

Excellent
wow! I really enjoyed reading this! It's unlike most poems I've read and that's great! Usually with such long poems I tend to drift away.. but I was hooked until the very end:] Very beautiful love story. Thank you for entering the contest and I wish you the best of luck! -
Wow, um, unique this is certainly and I'm guessing that a good amount of work went into doing it - it was so detailed, I felt more like I had just read a short story when I reached the end rather than a long poem! ;-)
You caught their characters well also, particularly the male I thought, - and overall, it sort of reminded me of a modern [and twisted!] version of Romeo and Juliet ;-)
Overall, it wasn't my style of poem to read; however I can appreciate how much of your time must have gone into preparing this, and perhaps researching how to make them speak, and concentrating on choosing the correct words -
And so I would like to thank you for opening my eyes to this kind of work, and sharing it with us all here! Thanks for supporting the contest also by putting in an entry

Ohhh i enjoyed reading this one!

The epic love story is just classic!
So very creative!
the Vanity and greed of Acwellan is depicted to perfection!
Sometimes i wish epic story have a happy endin, but we cannot always get what we want!

A story of love that can only be loved. Very nicely Done. It almost seems more like a story though?
Or perhaps a sonnet?
