Where is the deliverer of my dreams,
the wizard with a wand to bless me
with the light upon a path the leads to paradise,
waving it magic to vanquish the shadows
where I get lost in the maddening throng of finger pointing puppets,
chasing the mirages of utopia among the concrete mazes?
How many come with their own faded maps
to show me the road to Nirvana,
by traversing an altar of sacrifice unto their persona god.
All their promises of tranquility
never brings salvation’s peace,
their bridges of poignant pebbles
denying me freedom’s sweet release.
Suffering steps have I stumbled
just to seek the refuge from my sorrow,
each gate they reveal only lead to a brick wall,
my heart getting bruised from the detours.
In my agony and confusion my eyes discovered
a simple trail that didn’t have any signs,
feeling a happiness within my soul that I had never felt before,
bringing an incredible sense of bliss,
following it not because I had to,
but because my insides felt such joy from each additional step,
only noticing afterwards the shape of a cross
buried in the stones when I had tread.
The wind brought a divine voice whispering the name of this passage,
called so softly, “Faith.”
Sensing it would lead to a place I was meant to be,
accepting sometimes the route you want the most to find
comes when you stop looking where others insist it dwells.

Great wording and depth in this! I like all of your wording, but especially,
'How many come with their own faded maps
to show me the road to Nirvana,
by traversing an altar of sacrifice unto their persona god.'
and also your Great ending!,
'accepting sometimes the route you want the most to find
comes when you stop looking where others insist it dwells.'
Well done! (my titlte has the word 'cross' in it, too....lol....I think a lot of the entries did
)
Excellent job. Best wishes in the contest.
