There once was a spider named Roger,
came into our house as a lodger.
We left him alone cause he needed a home,
and besides that, Roger would dodge ya.
Now Roger was a big guy, you see.
A huntsman, he don't bother me.
He stays near the ceiling, he's somewhat appealing,
and it's good that he's roaming round free.
He's as big as my palm and he's hairy,
but some people find him quite scary,
but i find him quite shy, this big hairy guy,
I can't understand those who're weary.
So if you see Roger one day,
come into your house, let him stay.
He'll catch all the flies and bugs that pass by,
You'll never regret that he came.

Thank you so much. Sorry you have a fear of them. We have them come and go regularly in the house, most of the time they stay near the ceiling and venture maybe halfway down the walls. Won't go on.

Ewwwwwwww I hate spiders, but love the limerick
Brought a huge smile to my face. I really enjoyed this.
Thank you for your entry

Thanks, mate. I guess the little guys Really reach our pysch more than we give them credit for. I love all animals, including insects, and i have masses of books on them. My book collection is three fold....animals...war (second)....phenomena.

Ha...yes, I do believe that Roger is pretty handy to have around...Just don't get in his way.
Your humour always amuses me in your writes...and your rhyming is superb...Down there where you live you have alot of creatures we don't here. Delightful write my friend!

Thank you. We named the Hunter that was roaming our place, Roger. Couldn't keep calling him, hey you! lol!!!!!!! I love these guys, they are scary to some people though because they are so big and move so fast. Mostly, they stay part way up the wall and on the ceiling where they have very fine webs to catch their yummy dinner.

Ewwwwww! Spiders! You can keep your little pets!
This is cute and i like the way it rhymes and tellls a story all at the same time. ^.^ I rather enjoyed yet another classic from the great hand of condor! :
-

Thanks for the comment. I love Huntsmen spiders. They are so cute! We have one here now and he does the rounds of the house, room by room. They don't normally come any further than halfway down the wall. This one is really big, i think a male. Would sit perfectly in my hand but if he stretches his legs, he would be bigger.

Hi Condor
Decided to read some of your poetry. This is quite good. Is Roger still around?
I'm afraid that I kill spiders, ants, and mosquitoes. Roger and his friends and kin probably wouldn't like me.
I think this line reads better, "I can't understand those who're wary."
You chose to change your rhyme pattern in the last stanza.
Andy

No, Roger isn't but a relative is. He is georgous. I love these guys. Huntsmen have character if you watch them long enough. Thanks for pulling up that error i made. I shall go and change it. Changing the rhyme? I'll have to look at that. I'm no expert, so appreciate the comments and suggestions greatly.

You're a good limericker! Very unique and much wanted with all the forms being touted about.
Love this!
There is a spider that lives in this neck of the woods that
you do not want biting you, The Recluse Spider. Gone unabated his bite will fester until it looks like gangrene and spread and spread, and has no respect whatsoever for antibiotics or anti-venom.
Arachnophobia is the term for a morbid fear of them.
What is the term for not being afraid of them? Stupidity?
LOL
Nice poem, Condor!

Hahaha brave one are you...please keep roger in your house hahaha congrats on the trophy lol

-
Ah, a limerick disguised as a quatrain! Very nice flow. Did you mean wary instead of weary at the end of the third stanza?
-
well even so spiders still freak me out a little, cats eat bugs too and they are cuddly, but all kinding aside this is fab and funny poem
-
Super cool write...Don't know about Roger, but black widows are sexy

-
This is cute, but I'm not so sure I would be as brave as you to let that hairy Roger set up house in my home. LOL I would probably have to enlist the help of someone else to set him free in the great outdoors.
A very cute write. Blessings, Patty

I love Roger. He can come and stay with me anytime but Lis would want him ejected quick smart. Well done. A gentle little story witha chuckle along the way.

-
lol no Roger would not stay here long! This was funny though but I do have a phobia of spiders! A joy to read! Good luck in the contest!
-
I'm afraid Roger would have to go and find somewhere else if he came to my place
I hate spiders
Very well penned tho. Your flow and rhyme are always spot on

Thanks, julie. Your comments are appreciated. I had this poem on a long time ago but took a few off to do some work on them. Now I'm putting them back. I love the hunters. They are so cute!
