I left my heart in Jersey.
It's being carried away by the gulls,
Dropped in the icy Atlantic
Falling asleep to its lulls.
It's wandering the boardwalk,
Picking flowers from the fields.
Forever basking in the sunsets,
While for the Devil it yields.
I left my heart in Jersey,
Not sure when I will return.
But so long as it's with Jersey,
My empty chest shall burn.
It's being carried away by the gulls,
Dropped in the icy Atlantic
Falling asleep to its lulls.
It's wandering the boardwalk,
Picking flowers from the fields.
Forever basking in the sunsets,
While for the Devil it yields.
I left my heart in Jersey,
Not sure when I will return.
But so long as it's with Jersey,
My empty chest shall burn.
Author notes
I lived in New Jersey for 7 years. Despite all those who say it's awful, I miss it so much. I remember it like a dream, probably because I was so young when I lived there. But it really is a wonderful place. Oh, and in case you didn't catch it, the reference was to the Jersey Devil, not "The Devil" XD
