A part of my heart will always long and yearn
for a place to be,
a place that I don't think I'll visit
but nevertheless you see,
I have an idea, a notion, a thought,
of an image not shaken but fervently caught.
I fancy that romance would ooze from
the walls, rising up from the waters to the tips
of the oars ..
in exciting anticipation, satined shoes carefully tred
to board the slender vessel, its winding route to thread
masked in disguise costumed in array
fine jewels, tri- hat in feathery display
as I glide past the piazzas under a Bridge of Sighs
my imagination soars
as the past zooms and flys,
of those whose footsteps taken so many years before
a longing look,
a glance,
in their one last final chance
but shadows pass the mists to clear
I seize my chance and one so dear with
a welcomed look from my gondolier
gives me all I need to hear

Ah, my dear Lib....and such attracted my own mother who had never been there...You have taken us on the canals, shown the gondolier's charm and vesture...You are a romantic for sure...Loved this...Truly a trophy was earned here!
