Missing image
treasures to the trailer trash
splash flamingo pink
parasols and Barbie dolls
dirty dishes in the sink
pillows shaped like hearts
and teddy bear collections
refrigerator full of beer
and chocolate-dipped confections
dreams as big as all outdoors
awaiting skies of blue
until that special guy arrives
and makes them all come true

A wonderful, modern version of a Disney princess (I could really imagine a prince charming riding up to this girl's trailer park)! As soon as I saw the picture on deviantart, I loved it. But, I had no idea how anyone could give it words. You did an excellent job, and you surpassed all the expectations I had for the picture prompts!
The title was a nice play on words, too!

    Substitutes for Love ...

often such: clutter of memories almost impossible to replace. And then ... the metamorphosis: all energy turned into that marvelous fusion meant. And place and time become stripped to bare soul; crutches thrown away. Maturity of merge.

    Your profession shows ...

Best of luck in this contest.

I totally agree with Liza's comment, and saw & felt this poem in much the same way...the title is very interesting.
powerful & thought provoking in its simplicity, Garrison..

Hello there. I had to log off and chase the loud spectre of a tangible reality-

As for this, I didn't actually relate it directly to trailers or any such lifestyle-- more a take on generally restrictive home lives. . and the low expectations/common perceptions around them. Even, somehow the image of a suburban dinner party with a daughter making fake conversation came to mind lol (don't ask). So I decided to rant on the metaphorical implications of the prompt. . words. . I vaguely understood the meaning, though it probably didn't show in the comment. . as completely dizzy and spaced out as I am. . Good luck with the contest and all.

This is a vivid picture indeed of 'white trash'.

I am not sure what to think about the ending- is it cynical, hopeful, sympathetic? I guess you leave this up to the reader to decide, which is cool.

    Nice work!

Slightly painful. Wonderfully stagnant surrealism. I like the nature of suggestion and subtle dynamics, focussed all on the common, dismal situation surrounding the girl. . You've captured aspects of the prompt and wide implications beyond. . the high, almost cynically majestic arm, sad, serious expression towards the inward leaning fence. . . repitition in the position of an oblivious figure, changing just about as much as the subject. The impression of stark, unmoving, but hopeless rebelion against a norm. . with some deep, genuine hope, covered by obvious superficial sarcasm or realistic conversation. . Entrapment, and a striking, cultural acceptance and almost embrace of it? lol. It kind of has the sing-song quality of escape through constant, obsessive. . motionless dreaming (not quite. . -if that makes any sense). Fairytale memoir.

Anyhoo, very effectively done. Quick words, enticing depths. Bluntly real, known-so why so twisting. . I rant delusions.

this .. ..it's not exactly ..sarcastic and yet in a way the tone of it strikes me that way ... perhaps it's in how well you've captured the delusion.. and ..hmm what would we call it? a subculture?

the images string, slightly surreal, and for a moment I felt like I was in a fun house/theme park..

yes it's sad, ... because the certainty in such places is about as absolute as it gets.. that guy will fix it all of course...

I'm rambling away as usual... and not touching half of what I saw in this..

Nice piece, this one. Has a good rhythm and flow.
Sums up the trailer park life all too well. (except you misspelled skies.) I don't know what good blue skis would do unless there was snow on the ground!
