I am the town stalker;
voyeur, alley-crawler
and midnight walker.
You do not see me,
but I'm always there
at the edges of your dreams,
a constant nightmare.
You sense me in the dark
as you walk home alone,
foolishly, through the park.
Know that if you stumble
I will pounce on you
and your innocence destroy--
your soul will be my toy.
I am your other self,
the monster in the Id,
a malign demon-elf.
So do not be afraid,
you are the Jekyll to my Hyde.
Let me take you to the pit of Hell--
enjoy the ride.

I love your take on the prompt. From the sounds of things, it could be the p-de-v of someone who suffers from schizophrenia or dementia, as the vivid imagery made me think of intense hallucinations. I especially loved this bit:
"I am your other self,
the monster in the Id,
a malign demon-elf."
You have a stunning vocabulary! Well done & thanks for entering

"your soul will be my toy" that's pretty dark! I like your take on thi s prompt. and how you wrote from a different perspective rather than the women in the picture..Good luck

-
Neat write
You must be from the "Forbidden Planet," a monster from the id.

The trouble with stalking is you always have to go where THEY want to go. If they want to go and see "Mama Mia" ten times, you have to go and see "Mama Mia" ten times. You really have to be very choosy about whom you stalk - my advice is: before you stalk someone, follow them around for a few weeks first.

love this one... i used to walk through the park alone at night just to get the feeling this poem gave me... the fear, excitement, thrill of it all

This is a fabulous piece of writing, you employ touchable imagry, and yet it remains satisfying to read, with a nice steady flow,
Know that if you stumble
I will pounce on you and your innocence destroy
your soul will be my toy,
this verse gives me a shiver down my spine, deliciously dark
Thanks for sharing

Great stuff. I think we all have those inner fears. In a way, it can be enjoyable, a thrill. I like the way you obliquely pointed out that sometimes we blame these occurrences on ourselves, eg when we have walked "foolishly" through the park.
