The mermaid who gave up her all
for the man she held so dear,
Their hearts had always beat as one
'til came the day she'd feared
This enchanted princess,
Could never ever age,
Alas her love was human
and time, it lacks a gauge
She knew that she'd not love again,
Now half her heart was lost,
Everything she touched now
became coated with frost
And so she walked down to the sea
to walk until she drowned,
Wading through saline water,
Her head was hanging down
A miracle then happened,
The waves began to part,
And so she waded deeper,
A pounding in her heart
As the waves crested she saw a castle,
Her true and rightful home,
One final dive and she was free,
Though never again to roam
She dove into the water,
Its spirit broke the spell,
With a flip of her tail she swam away,
To the castle and the toll of the bell
She held her father closely,
But the castle can no longer be seen,
For her tears have raised the ocean
and the fish cry for their sorrowful queen
