one night

Ive lived for 21 years now,
though memories placed together,
Ive truly only lived for a week.
And that my friend,
was one heck of a week.

I remember the ballroom floor,
with people dancing all around.
But my lady,
to be honest,
you were the only one I saw.

Your eyes sparkled so nicely,
your smile, oh so pretty.
Oh so cute, the crown in your hair,
and honey, I do hope ya know,
it fits you quite nicely.

That night you left,
I was still in my tux,
man, I missed you so much.
Than it was over for good,
and now were doing alright.

Now I wonder,
"Why are entire years strewn,
on the cutting room floor of memory,
when single frames,
from one magic night,
forever flicker in close up,
on the 3D Imax of my mind?"

Author notes

"Why are entire years strewn on the cutting room floor of memory, when single frames from one magic night forever flicker in close-up on the 3D Imax of my mind?"

I thought the quote made for a good ending, however it broke my 5 lined verses, lol. So I hope thats ok. The other thing is, the quote definitely needs to be credited to the people who wrote them for "Rent."

Though I have not seen the musical or the broadway, the quotes definitely got me curious. Theres so many, that covers some major real life issues. It would be an interesting one to watch.

Theres definitely other nights that I remember, but if I told you about my whole week of life, it could take a lot more lines :-P. It is funny though how a whole life goes by, and maybe 10% is really something that has been deemed worthy of memory. Perhaps that means I need to get up and do more, lol. This particular memory was a few years ago, and shes long gone. But shes serving our Father, so I know shes in good hands.
