Heiress Barbie

How can she be the ideal?
Never using her brain
Just her anorexic body
Never working a day of her life
Only drinking the night away
Is this the new role model?
Heiress Barbie who we’ll never be
Will they ever see her falsity?
As they worship idols
Never wanting to see the truth
This is escapism at its finest
Believing all the glam lies
Forgetting the beauty myth
Becoming a perverted reality
Where birth means right
And work doesn’t mean a thing
She has become a twisted ideal
Never using her brain
Just her anorexic body
Never working a day of her life
Only drinking the night away
Is this where the futures lies?

Author notes

option: Barbie world
this is a contest entry, this actually my opinion on paris hilton mainly (i want to blow up my tv when she comes on it, and burn magazines she's in cause she grates on my very last nerve), but it works for other people in hollywood too. it's also my opinion on hollywood and how it seems to be controlling the direction of the world more than tangible achievements, i'll stop ranting now i promise

A contest entry

does this get you thinking about falsity?

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!

  • describes the image protrayed by the media perfectly, and automatically makes you think about paris hilton.

Great writing, and you shouldn't stop ranting because your rants are insightful, accurate and inspiring.

This is definitely an eye-opener for many, and I cannot believe that there are some people out there who are truly so dense like Paris Hilton. There is more to life that riches, and until you've held a dirty rag in your hand, I can find it very rare that you've known true life. Sure, people are entitled to their own lifestyles, but it's a shame that compassion comes so little. I loved the frankness here, especially the sarcastic wit and rhetoric. Personally, it's a crying shame she will never know the true value of money.

Too bad you just can't pop her egotistic head off like a real Barbie Doll.

    Keep these coming!

Is this the new role model?
That is so true on how society views role models today..
I remember back in old school days when change actually meant something to somebody, whatever happened to that??? I mean I wasent alive for those times but I can feel people who want to make a change, now its all about drinking, and people lost their morals way too quickly.
    Well said poet.
We call them bar sluts down here

lol i can see why you compared this piece to paris hilton... i cant stand her either, neither can my husband. then again i hate most celebrities... the mansions they buy for multi millions and who needs a place with 20 bedrooms? they could still buy a mansion fer a couple mil and imagine how much the rest would buy for homeless ppl. you could buy modest houses for about twenty homeless people. what a difference they could but never do make. a great poem,

I like this, even though I liked Barbie when i was a child, the one where you could change her head and put wigs on. but I know what you're getting at here and I like the way you repeat the first part at the end.

    Great poem!

I agree, Barbie is so BS. People always want to be like her, but she's so fake. She is the "ideal woman". Everyone should be themselves and everyone is great no matter what they look like. My girlfriend said that "Barbie" was at Wallmart taking pictures with kids, then she was smoking in the break room. Nice role model. I like the part in the poem where it says "Never using her brain
    Just her anorexic body
Never working a day of her life
Only drinking the night away". So Paris Hilton.
    B-I-M-B-O
Any way "I'm a Barbie girl in a Barbie world. Life in plastic. It's fantastic." Aqua. Remember them?

Great job. I like the poem alot. One fo my favorite movies is the new version of House of Wax. It starred Paris Hilton as a bitch and she died. The rest of the movie sucked, but I did enjoy her death scene.

    Congrats on a great poem.
