Behind the Clouds

On a cold winters night
The rain pouring down
The pale moonlight
Off in a distance
Behind the clouds

She cries all alone
Gazing into the night
While thoughts of him
Races across her mind

She shakes her head
As the tears streamed down her face
And asked herself
How did I make such a big mistake?
To let him go
Disappear from her life
She called his name
Then she began to cry

He stands all alone
And watches the world go by
He see’s lightening
Strike in anger at the sky

He thinks about
All those dreams he had
And can’t find one
That he wouldn’t rather have

Then to hold her close
And take back that goodbye
He asked his self
Why didn’t I put up a fight?
Then to let her go
Disappear from his life
He called her name
And then he began to cry

Their tears flowed down
Then they both knew what to do
They said aloud
I’ve just got to, be with you
I can’t be without
I live to share my life with you
I need your love
I’ll do anything just for you

On a cold winters night
The rain pouring down
The pale moonlight
Off in a distance
Behind the clouds

Author notes

Re-edited the title to this piece from 'Live to Share My Life With You' to 'Behind the Clouds' (I found the title more fitting).

This poem is absolutely beautiful and amazing. I loved it. The message of the poem happens to two people each and every day. The imagery you put into this and the emotion are just plain out astounding and enriched in the bonds that love designs where there is no line one wouldn't cross to be with their significant other. best of luck to you in the contest and God bless you always.

Well thank you so very much. When I wrote this, it came to me more as of a song/melody, at first when I received my Title prompt, I thought--oh boy! He gave me a hard one lol (I'm not very good at the romantic stuff), so I just had to do some serious pondering but i'm glad you had given to me what you did--I really enjoyed creating this and writing it, thank you for the inspiration, because without the Title I would had never wrote with such deep emotion concerning romance.

This was so well done; so reflective too. I don't usually read 'love' and 'romance' pieces but this was great. Wonderful feel and flow; very thoughtful.

Thank you very much AsI, and I understand what you mean about not normally reading love and romance, it's not often I read or write it as well either, I just thought I would give it a try at least. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, it's much appreciated!

No prob...I laughed when I saw your remarks to Swan (below) - especially since I had just basically said the same about "love and romance" stuff (smiling). You are very welcomed though.

    nice

but i openly admit to being bias! so shoot me! i love your talent which shines brightly, though it's apparent this subject proved a little tough for you, you still managed to pen a nice solid write.

Thanks Swan. Well i'm not one to do alot of the romantic stuff, but I thought i'd at least give it a try. It was kind of fun just participating and seeing what I could come up with. But I agree, i'm just not the 'mushy' type. But i'm sure someone in this contest will nail this for sure, it was a great idea the judge had came up with creating a challenge for writers. Can't wait to see who wins!

Cg, thank you hun. But word of advice, everyone writes differently, not ONE is the right way when it comes to poetry in my eyes. Poetry is about personal emotion and thoughts, not one person see's things the same way. Yet, that there is the beauty of poetry, someone cannot tell you how you feel in your writings, only YOU know this, all they can do is sit back and appreciate you giving them a chance to see what your writing about from your very own perspective. You just be you, and write for yourself, thats all that matters.
