"Adam and Eve, the first human beings..."

Adam and Eve, the first human beings
To dance the dirty bump and grind;
Were it but they that bred the earth,
Does the word "incest" come to mind?

Pi is three points plus nil exact;
There is no question you do not fret?
I suggest you use this number-
Build a car, see how far you get.

A man can live nine hundred years,
Or so The Good Book does its claim.
And if this can be so true,
Where be the Count of Notre Dame?

All fowls that creep upon four,
Grammar for now to be put aside;
Now this is something I'd like to see:
A four legged foul in full stride!

The devil showed all worldly realms,
From a mountain way up high;
So apparently the world be flat,
For this assertion to apply;

Jonah in the fishies maw,
Or so goes the story and all,
But since a whale is not a fish,
Maybe he was one inch tall?

The Flood of many ages gone,
To cleanse our evils and begin anew;
Obviously it worked so well!-
Mankind does wears a kinder shoe!

All of these and more be found,
Within The Bible's word's so pale;
And for all of you of blind belief-
For you I have a bridge for sale!

Author notes

Had fun pointing out a few factual errors in the Good Book... I hope I didn't blow your criteria by taking a lighter approach, but once I read the title I couldn't resist getting something out :-)

Love the subject matter, best contest yet, strong entries across the board, good luck to all!

    Very interesting indeed, but as the book is in our day, we must not take all words literally. We take each write as a guided translation, and work it into every day. We should not rush to believe all we hear for then we will die in mass confusion. Well written with many good questions, as I have had many of my own.

      This was tongue in cheek, but I feel valid assertions. Some factual errors in the bible, like "all foul that creep on all fours", can be attributed to translation/poetic issues. Pi as three is a problem, too. Believers claim it to be just a rounding off of measurements. Disbelievers point out the bible supposedly the voice of God, therefore the end and be all, period. To me, all but needless haggling over something that doesn't exist. Amen

    The bible is full of such errors, but let us not forget that the good book also contains great passages of truth, like thou shall not kill and so on. Some would have us believe that it's all the word of god, Yeah right! Many authors over hundreds of years took part in writing the bible, great scholars of their day. Your poem indeed was an insightful read, good luck in the contest.
