gestern bin ich antigone begegnet
in einer engen gasse,
als ich nicht damit rechnete.
auf einmal stand sie vor mir
wie eine alte bekannte,
die vor jahren fortgegangen war.
die zeiten ändern sich.
du auch, antigone?
nein, du bist dieselbe geblieben.
kreon hat heute einen anderen namen,
ein wenig verändert hat er sich ja schon.
jetzt sperrt er keine leute mehr in höhlen,
es gibt nämlich viel bessere strafen.
nur du bist dieselbe geblieben.
noch immer beweinst du deinen bruder,
der doch viel mehr verdient hätte.
obwohl du nicht darfst.
noch immer liegt er da, unberührt,
bedeckt mit staub und tränen.
alles alte ist vergangen, antigone.
nur du nicht.
du bist immer noch da.
noch immer gehorchst du nicht.
du bist alt geworden, antigone.
doch immer noch da.
als ich dich das letzte mal traf,
waren auf deinem dachboden drei kinder versteckt.
ihre namen hast du nie erwähnt,
doch vielleicht hießen die rahel, david und hannah.
du hast sie vor ihm versteckt.
sie haben dich erwischt.
statt kerker diesmal arbeitslager.
und heute will dich auch keiner sehen.
in dieser seitengasse bist du gut aufgehoben,
da störst du keinen.
nicht, dass du noch jemanden belästigst mit deiner nächstenliebe,
das wäre fatal.
irgendwann wird eine zeit kommen,
in der wir zusammen durch die straßen laufen, ohne angst.
und dann wird jeder wissen,
dass es dich noch gibt,
dass es noch nicht zu spät ist,
die welt zu verändern,
indem man seinem gewissen treu bleibt.

wow. this is an amazingly powerful poem. I didn't read Antigone in school (that was for the advanced classes ^^) but I've heard of the story. I really liked the way you connected it to the 20th century. Very well done and very well written.
