Surreal and frantic feelings
stung my eyes, stormed my heart
from the chaos and the turmoil and the pain-
that was ripping, was exploding
into lives so far removed,
from the devils with their visions
into realms so filled with hate.
I looked down at my daughter,
two years old and filled with light;
glowing innocence and shining pure with peace.
To her - the world is wonder, it is laughter, it is love;
simple sunlight, magic rainbows and blue skies.
And suddenly a yearning
to take her hand and hold her tight,
made me wish to walk away and not look back.
For I would never miss the politics,
the stealth and the deceit,
and I’d pray for no more fear of an attack.

"I looked down at my daughter,
two years old and filled with light;"
I like the stunning second stanza...
It explanes well why the world still hasn't buckled into tte folly of perpetual chaos: light is still stronger than darkness.
