Words of the Ancients

Missing image

Sages of old

whispered solemn prayers
for future generations,
having their words echo

through myriads of time.

Heralded as prophesy,
stern warnings of judgement
and the King's triumphant return,
these words now fall upon
deaf ears with no resound.

Have we become so advanced
that we ignore the past?
Does our intelligence
supersede ancient wisdom?
We've become a generation
caught up listening to our own logic.

We mustn't be so ignorant
in our arrogance,
thinking we're greater
than a scribe upon a mountain,
for there a reason why

his words still flow
through the winds of change.

Heed these words,
my brothers and sisters ~
live not foolishly,
thinking tomorrow shall come
(for the future is unknown).

We try quieting God's voice,
thinking He's no longer relevant ~
however, we're still relevant to Him.

He still calls us upon ancient winds,

and we'll hear His voice

if we pause enough to listen.

An excellent take on the prompt. Your words hold much truth to them, very neat read. Good luck

An excellent take on your given prompt!

    "We've become a generation
caught up listening to our own logic.

    We mustn't be so ignorant
    in our arrogance,"
<== so much truth in those words!

As someone who struggles with faith, I found this something very much to ponder on.

    Thank you for this entry!

    That was amazing...

Just reading it filled me with a longing I've had for awhile, the longing to know I am not wrong for knowing what I know.

This is true in today's time, I believe life has become so cluttered it clouds us from our basic needs and wants, the true matters of the heart.

    "We mustn't be so ignorant
    in our arrogance,
    thinking we're greater
than a scribe upon a mountain,
    for there a reason why
    his words still flow
    through the winds of change."

Without their words, where would we be now...
Without yours, I don't think I'd have got out of this sleepy rut I was in today...

    Thank You.
I Love reading your poems, please, keep writing.
