With rosy cheeks and raven curl
I dreamed of a knight on shining steed
Who'd come to me in my hour of need
I painted his hair, dark, straight and long
He was tall and slim but yet so strong
His eyes were electric blue saphire
He filled my dreams with love's desire
But I grew into a woman soon
And left my dreams beneath the moon
And settled for what the world would give
An ordinary life for me to live
Then sorrows deep enfolded me
I lived through things no one should see
And lonely in my broken world
I left my heart within me curled
Then just when night had turned so black
My knight returned, he had come back!
To save me as my dreams foretold
But he was real, not rainbows gold
He looked exactly as before
But real! So I loved him even more
He took me from that darkened night
And filled my life with love and light
And even yet, though years are long
I love him still and oh so strong
As Cathy would leave her Heathcliff never
I'll love my own Heathcliff forever!
Author notes
Strange but true, he was exactly how I'd pictured him! I'm still passionately in love with him! Girls, don't settle for less than your dreams because he is out there somewhere....,
Oh and Cathy and Heathcliff's love was so deep they would not let even the grave separate them!

Oh, this is wonderful. I just love the book "Wuthering Heights." Their love is tragic, but beautiful. One of the classic romances.
Loved how you rhymed this. It was a great story, one every girl hopes will be true for her. I know I do. And your author notes were very encouraging.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments and the lovely gold cup! This is a very special win for me because it's a fitting tribute to a beautiful man. I honestly did dream of a hero with long dark hair and was stunned when he became mine. I met him when I auditioned to be in a rock band. He was the bass player. I knew he was a perfect match for my dream, with his long straight appache style hair and stunning eyes, but my personal confidence was low at that time and I thought he wouldn't give me a second look. I said to myself 'He's goodlooking, but he knows it.'
I couldn't have been more wrong! He had never bothered with girls and I was his first and only!!!!!! Thank you so very much.

i like that you referenced literature, but why wuthering heights? heathcliff and cathy were really kind of aweful....
nice write! that just kind of confused me... -

Hi Ladyhelenofsorrows
Thanks for your lovely comments. Wuthering Heights is my all time favourite love story. Although Cathy and |Heathcliffe's circumstances marred their characters and worked against them, they had a gut raw passion and deep love that was so strong they wouldn't even let the grave separate them! That kind of soul connection is rare. Love is often confused with lust these days and even marriage committments are seen as temporary. I love the idea of an eternal love, not something that's 'hot then not' as the mags say.
There would never be a time when Heathcliff would not come if Cathy called.
