salty rainfall upon tender skin
and in the eyes are storms without warning
for they rise deep in seas that flow
where none can see under dark skies.
The eyes retell,
the whispers of Angels between lightning flashes
louder than following thunders, the one meaning.
Life, gift of the one from birth to rebirth,
the one word that has all we hold within it,
to hold the meaning of ourselves forever;
the one the eyes reveal... love.
Author notes
I was introduced to Eleven Minutes by this quote in a comment from a brilliant poet here on AP... Thanks again ...Rhona
"You have a glow about you. The light that comes from sheer willpower, the light of someonewho has made important sacrifices in the name of things she thinks are important. It's in your eyes - the light is in your eyes... "

"...the whispers of Angels between lightning flashes.."
You placed the image in my mind,
assuring it shall be revisited in life,
in storms...

Excellent thoughts that flow across the page. Soft feelings that caress heart and eyes with love. Thank you for sharing.

Easily among the best poems in this contest (its a short list) in my opinion. I don't think Eleven Minutes is my kind of novel, not from what I've heard.

Love is an enigma, I struggle between seeing it as you say and, well, no one really cares what I think, this isn't about me.
Love, emotions, there are depths to it, them, to those who understand them.
Beyond love, it's life that this poem focuses on. Love is just a result of life.

well i think you have captured the thought i had in mind so very well, life and love... Thornton Wilder called in the one meaning[ bridge over San Luis Rey] an idea that comes over and over in my writing...a belief of mine ... thanks for all...PK

The two first lines made me think of tears, but not in a sad sense.
But what I really see here is how precious is the sentiment love, it's the greatest part of life.
In eleven lines you captured that feeling so well, showing it's importance and the blessing that is to be able to feel love.
Loved the images you used!
Rhona, yes, one of the best poetess of AP, and she has a good taste to books too

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and kind words... eleven lines is a great way to approach these ideas...as I recall Coelho was able to make some really good points in short paragraphs too and many poetic lines in his book...thank you for providing a great theme... PK
