Bamadoggerel

Obama wants to get a dog
With allergies the but.
I wonder if he'll call it Jeff
Because he is a mutt?
It seems to me the dog he has
Is too much dog already.
Of course I'm talking of his job.
He'll never hold it steady.
It's time to run like Hell Barack.
It's time to really panic.
You took the job as captain of
The iceberg struck Titanic.

Please tell me what you think

I'm sure that he has become privy to a number of things that aren't known to the public, media or even within high ranking political circles but I'm sure that he expected the real 411 on the state of the nation to be grim and he won't run. I doubt the thought has even crossed his mind.

As for the puppy: Has Barney moved out yet? I'm sure the new first dog will be inaugurated after the new President

I do wonder if he realizes that his greatest power as President of the United States won't be bestowed with the inauguration ceremony. He inspires America to act and be proactive. He'll need that fire, so I hope that the political whirlwind doesn't separate him from the people will make a difference. Those people aren't in the government...

they are Americans that are looking at the world from the moon rather than their front steps, feeling small, insignificant and helpless.

Anyway, enough about my political thoughts. You have a great poem. I'm sure that many are wondering why anyone would want the job he has taken on

    Bestw ishes... ~Genie~

And now I hear something about

corruption right where he just was, and I suppose he knows nothing, sees nothing, hears nothing about it. Something about someone trying to sell the job he just had. I don't suppose that's how he... no. Better not to even think it.

The title is interesting, didn't get it until I read the poem. Don't think things are quite as bad as you portray, or that he would have ever campaigned just to run away. I suppose the exageration is part and parcel of the piece. I can't make sense of the second line at all, lol

      No, he won't run away

but I think he should have for his own sake.

The second line? He wants to get a dog for his kids, but one of them is allergic to most dogs.

I appreciate that you've basically stated that barack Obama has a hard job ahead of him, but can't phanthom the idea that you weren't aware he already knew that.

I know most Americans don't know how bad

things are, as I see the news they are fed, then I see the real news. He might have more of a sense of what is going on, but I bet he gets a few shocks. I hope he's up to the job.

Living out in the world, I get to see what everyone else thinks of America. We're like the troubled boyfriend. Lots of potential...and fundamentally not bad, but misguided. I'm looking forward to the day when people ask me if I'm from America, and I can smile and say, "Yes I am."

          Misguided. Yes, perfect description.

Lots of potential? As much potential as a faith healer. It was great when everyone believed, just as it was great for the witch hunters that rooted out the evil commies like Sen McCarthy. Now we know the commies weren't as evil as the witch hunters. We are also learning that the terrorists aren't as terrible as the anti terrorists. Honestly, the only way to beat jokers like that is ignore them. Bush has spent the coalition of idiots poor chasing shadows and destroying innocent lives. But hey, this about poetry, not politics. Maybe the US will be guided properly now. Maybe the faith will come back.

I think people are starting to sense their power again. Inalienable doesn't mean rights can't be taken away, only that we are entitled to demand them. I've got a great deal of cautious hope.

              Actually, it looks so strange.....

It's like one of the conspiracy things was true, the secret group took power and was so stupid that everyone laughed at them as the idiots ruined everything. Obama needs to bring everyobody home, rebuild infrastructure. stop supporting any foriegn countries at all, close the Mexican border, seriously fight drugs and embark on a massive education campaign. I worked for two and a half years supporting a major ISP all across the US and most of the people I dealt with were so undereducated as to appear moronic. There was maybe one in about 15 that could actually hold a decent conversation.

He should take care of the US's veterans a lot better. It isn't their fault they are where they are. I think those were the saddest calls I took. Vets who had come home to find themselves in places they wouldn't send a sick pig to. My heart goes out to them. The ones that don't have physical wounds have psychological ones, as do most of the ones coming home to Canada, a lot of whom kill themselves or abuse their loved ones.

I really do hope he does re-examine NAFTA. A lot of Canadians would like to see it go.

              Anyhow, again; enough politics.

I grew up in Jonesboro, Ar. You don't have to inform me about the practiced ignorance so many have adopted. A friend forwarded me a comparison of Obama to the antichrist, to which I responded, let's just throw reason out the window and assume Obama is the antichrist. If the alternate choice is McCain, I think going with the antichrist would be less harmful to America.

This guy's in college. I don't know what process exactly pushes these absurdities, but I'm sure it's good for people who want to take advantage of it.

The Antichrist. I thought that was The Pope.

I am not superstitious, religious...whatever you want to call it, rating Santa and The Tooth Fairy right up/down there with Jesus and Allah. An interesting note though. I was in Nashville a few years ago doing some recording and some kind of electronic glitch distorted whatever I had said. The produce said it sounded evil, then the engineer told me to say something evil to see if it was ok. In my best Excorcist voice I said. "Vote Repiblican." I often wonder if they have stopped laughing.

I don't think we had any AR divisions. The ones we dreaded most getting calls from were Rochester, California and Hawaii. A lot of the Missouri calls were pretty funny too. Texas was nice. I think of all the US I enjoy most dealing with people from Texas. New York city was usually ok. Florida was not too bad, except Tampa Bay. Ohio wasn't too bad most of the time. Americans need to develop a common language. Cincinnati was a good part incomprehensible, as again were a lot of southern states. I think the worst were what I call the bom bom guys, evrything they said sounded like bom, bom bom bom mobum. If I ever hear anyone say, 'Mash" down on something again I will hurt him. The worst thing is the people who have developed 75 different variations on the jackass bray and expect one to understand them. It all sounds like "Haooouuuung?" They can't really be human. Teach them to fetch newspapers.

One more thing. Howcome so may Americans have hooker names? Lapooshia. Tapushi. Tusinda. Mafoosia. Sharisa. Bumalsa. It sounds like the marquee of an exotic dance emporium.

      I dunno.

Looks worse than anything I've seen before. Basically it looks like The Great Depression on top of Viet Nam with the Mexican invasion and a few other wrenches tossed into the machinery, like Gitmo looking like the McCarthy witch hunts for instance. Our economy is so closely tied to the US's that I hope he can pull it out within a couple of years, but I can't see how he can from here.

    Superb

An intriguing write, however, with a little help from history, ie: Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR), 32nd Pres. of the USA, solved similiar problems for our country years ago. He created the Works Progress Administration to provide jobs; he created Social Secuity, he helped bring World War II , with its horrible Holocaust to an end, etc. It is my hope that the President-elect will be the FDR of this generation. Just google each of the above for more information. After all, as a great person, once said: "Those who fail to study history, are doomed to repeat it".

      Yes, one can only hope.

Honestly; it looks like Mr. Bush has made most of the problems on purpose. I do hope Mr. Obama can solve them. Our country isn't doind so badly, but the longer the US is down the worse it gets here too.

God Bless Obama for being willing to overcome his allergies to provide the promised pet for his children.....

....God Bless him for seeking to rescue an animal in need regardless of breed....

....God Bless him for taking the helm of the biggest ship in history....

....May he Captain with a full crew of allegiance too...

....instead of being scuppered by a mutinous few...

....your poetic tale re a man living the dream...

a man shoulder to shoulder with Martin Luther King...

    Yes this is a whama-bama-poetry-ping-pong-game,
it made me smile that you could only lampoon him for something so sweet as to provide his children with a pet...

Ah...better to gift a child a pet than gift them cause for regret

I wouldn't consider it lampooning him

if, as in this case he made the reference first. He has a nearly impossible job. Most of all; God bless his kids. That has to be an even harder job. Yes, Martin Luther King and all that. It's kind of hard for a Canadian to understand that stuff.

      Yeah, fresh water.

There's an issue that Mr. Obama has to face that a Canadian can understand. Even if the US takes every drop ir can fron the bodies of water it shares with Canada there isn't enough. I do hope the chap pulls it off, but it looks like a job that can't be done.

Move to the head of the class.

Yeah, a very hard road. Or a row that can't be hoed. Whatever. Due to the size of the load and the almost certain failure I was hoping that neither he nor Mrs. Clinton would shoulder it. I can hear the taunts now, "We should never have let a $%#%$#$% into office. See how they screw everything up?"

And I haven't made fun of the chap.

I just re-wrote what he said about being a mutt. I think he, or anyone will find the job crushing. I think he will be remembered for the country's losses during his term, not his personal victories. He seems like such a nice man to be made into such a scapegoat, but that's show biz.
