My belief

I have always been told
that Jesus died on the cross
so I could go to heaven.

He took all my sins
and allows me to enter
into this most sacred place.

He lets me walk beside him
helping always
with tough choices.

He brings me up
when I am down
and shares a perfect love with me.

Heaven to me
isn't so much a place
but a feeling.

A feeling of acceptance,
of love,
and of joy.

When you accept Him
into your heart
Heaven is there with you too.

I really like the message of this one.

    Solid material friend.

Still, this bit of work lacks in any sort of what you might call poetical pyrotechnics. It reads quite like prose thrown into a poem's structure. The diction is cliche and there is no sense of flow due to the unconcious repetition of certain words. The technical appeal of this poem just left me with the thought "you can do better than this."

Your grammar is solid and the simplicity appeals to the message, but this poem in no way challenges you to engage the craft of writing poetry beyond the establishing of structure.

Overall this is a solid write with a great message and a need for some further revision (as are almost all poems).

    Blessings,

    C

Well I think all this means that you liked my poem. I thank you for your comments. I wanted it to be simple to be honest. Religion and beliefs shouldn't be complicated in my eyes. It's for comfort... at least to me.

You'll find your religion again when you really need it. I know this. I think it is always within someone. Sometimes we just lose sight of it.

As children we learn what others put in front of us. As adults we learn only what we want to and need to mostly to get by. However, sometimes, life throws us a curve and we actually learn about ourselves.

Thanks for commenting on my works. Really I do appreciate you and everyone else who spends the time out of their busy days to comment and tell me honestly what they think. This lady really does appreciate you!
