Weathered, yet still standing tall
despite the reflection, affirming it all.
Darkness overshadowing beauty that was,
yet never erasing what once was the cause.
Life in its complexities, tearing ones soul,
leaving ones heart with a blackened hole.
Where rain once fell, tears now replace,
sadness lives, denying loves embrace.
Winds whispering, trying to sustain the light,
refusing defeat, stimulating the will to fight.
Leaves swirling, caressing like fingers,
calling forth the soul that remains, lingers.
Affirmation of what once was and what remains,
overshadowing the darkness, beauty sustains.
Soul awakening like the buds of the first spring,
newly kindled, the heart once again does sing.
The barren branches embraced within loves whispers.
