time fleets and the air scents of age
saplings now fetch the heavens
in wisdom I too stand statuesque
reaching for what I cannot see
while I wither from my roots
somewhere in a torn page of life
my mind still renders pastels of view
the child I was the child I knew
after all this time

This poem is absolutely amazing. You did the title great justice by the way. People change more nothing ever stays the same, but you remember who you used to be at times and wonder what it would be like if you were that way still. Excellent job with this. God bless you always in all you do and write and best wishes to you in the contest.
