Sleeping

Memories hung freely on its branches.

The wind swirled around
its trunk, whisling a tune
as it passed through fine cracks
between the peeling bark

The water remained stagnant,
hushed secrets creating gentle
ripples across its surface.

The thin autumn air
clutched onto everything,
as if preventing anything
from making a single noise

And in the distance, the
rustling of the dead leaves
strewn across nature's bed
provided a lullaby for the
tree to remain sleeping

    ooo

I love the stillness in this poem and how beautifully it was portrayed and made me want to read more! The nature aspect is amazing and it made me almost feel like I was there, beside the tree, going through all that it was. ooo just beautiful! good luck!!
