I cried out, "But I cannot
for I am just one!"
My tear fell in anguish
a world drowned within it.
I pulled back in fear of failure
afraid to even try
the child , the hope
of what could have been, languished.
I followed the crowd
not wanting to make waves
and fell into the tidal wave
that is The Majority.
I took a step in my own direction
and a new path was born
dark, fearful, but strong and Right
a new world opened before me.
I took a path less traveled
soon finding others behind me
following in MY footsteps
suddenly I was not just One any more
Author notes
Perhaps a bit more personal than you were looking for but it is my belief that the greatest changes begin within ourselves.

I think the whole point of the butterfly effect, is that one thing you do... every choice you make does not just matter in your life.. it matters in the lives of everyone on this planet.. we are all connected..
Nicely done,

This poem has a great message attached to it. Often times we're expected to do more than what we THINK that we can do and we feel all alone, but we have to remember that others are in the same situation too. You're not the only one with a dysfunctional home, the only one with breast cancer, or whatever it may be. I really appreciate this poem. And don't ever be afraid to try something. My aphorism for life is the only failure is failure to try.
