Soul mates

The contours of our memories our alive in the songs that ignite flashbacks
notes of music that marked the smiles of friendship of that time
Outside in the hawaiian night, we wrote tributes in the moonlight
Together we watched the sunset and we lit the candles for your Shabbat


When my eyes sparkled with the tears of grieving you stayed by my side
An angel who watched over me so I could let myself be vulnerable and just cry
You respected my silence and didn't try to convince me that it would be alright'
You understood I didn't want the tenderness of a hug because my barriers were falling

Instead of telling me she was in heaven- you waited till i wanted to speak
As pouring tears caressed my cheeks, the pain laced in my eyes unravelled into pieces
we could talk about it but we don't - you love me enough to know crying wasn't easy
I think that our best friends are our soul mates because they are our other halves


                  lifemates who will always be there
                when our relationships burn to ashes
                  the ones who accept us for who we are
                  and respect our boundries even though it kills them
                    not to reach across and help us heal our hearts
