What if?
What if everyday had you in the mix?
I'll tell you.
We would be happy.
I would be so happy to be with you.
We would sing songs every day.
Songs that we had lost sleep over trying to write.
We would make love every night.
Passionate, with whispered 'I love you's.
We would wake up next to one another every morning.
It would seem as if we were still dreaming.
We would smile because we would know that
We complement each other in every way.
We're perfect together in every way.
What if?
What if I had smiled at you instead of looking away?
What if you had followed me that night, instead of giving up?
What if you had tried harder to get your jacket back,
that day on the train
when I was cold
and you gave it to me?
Somehow I know.
We would've been perfect.
I still have the jacket...

This is sweet yet sad, sweet for the feelings you have painted here but sad as it does not feel like it had a happy ending.
