Hasty

I loved you more than self;
at the beginning you failed to tell me
that the matters were illegitimate-
because you only planned momentarily
on a night that you could barely stand.

I took foot for you, let your pretty words
soak the rugs and ride the length of my
branded shins, they climbed like embers with
the unmistakable burn of fingertips
you played your cards-i didn't care at all.

Everything was ignorantly perfect
With you (my heart fulfilled to its limit)
But truth be told-the other half was
In shambles and you just provided me
A foolish concept of Gods to believe in.

Somehow, from where I stood
I fell hard. I drastically tumbled, so hard
That I could promise to never need you again
Never to surrender my good
To the drawl of your "baby" as it rolls over.

Maybe I was hasty, maybe you were innocent
Yet that innocence will not excuse
Such audacity
No, it will not excuse the hastiness
That inclines me to give you more.
