Three little words
Snatched from another's mouth,
At once neither truth nor lies.
Three little words
Often repeated, not always meant,
And never quite enough.
Three little words
That can say so much
Or be so meaningless...
Three little words
So easy to utter;
So easy to waste.
Three little words
That I've said before
To one who was undeserving,
Three little words
I gave before
I could really see their meaning.
Three little words
No matter what,
They can never be honestly mine.
Three little words
I whisper to you
Like destiny in the dark.
Three little words
I know to be true,
But can never truly satisfy
Three little words -
I can do without.
Why speak when I can show you?

I like when you said, "often repeated, not always meant."
-
I love the message. The simplicity and shortness of each line also adds emphasis to the truth of those three words being very curt for such a complex emotion.
