Nine to five

Nine to five my job was the same as his
to win an election
knuckles nearly bloody from so much knocking
voice nearly gone from so much calling
blood sweat and tears-
I gave them all for this

Sitting with my "Obama family"
attentively watching the states come in
an eruption of screams and tears as it was announced
No longer yes we can but
Yes we did

We gave it all in hope that he will do the same
yes we did

Author notes

I was a national team leader with the campaign in missouri.

    I have so much respect.

You can tell generations to come that you were one of the runners who set this dream to motion so that our reality is now: We have our first black president. Yes we did. I offer big kudos to you and I appreciate you poem> it was nicely written.
