A woodpecker, hitting the wood
over and over with an irritating scratchy noise.
The woodpecker never gets a worm.
An iceskater, new in the field,
making anything but music
as her skates squeak against the ice
continuing on the same track her entire life,
never making any progress at all
except to destroy the hearing
of those who stuck it out.
The elderly principal, tries to get attention of the school
for an assembly, but
the children never decide to settle down.
A mosquito bite appears out of nowhere
and itches more and more every day,
and as soon as you think its began to fade away
it swells and grows and begins to itch again.
My thoughts run in my head all day
on a treadmill
making no progress at all
Anger is ugly
but it takes over my mind.
I recommend jumping into a cold river
spinning in the rain
or alcohol and friends.

I really love the last stanza of this poem
each of those things such a great way for relieving frustration! The way that the stanzas are separated, yet form a chain of links is exceptional, especially as most of these are everyday annoyances - I enjoyed this write very much

I agree...
that treadmill is a great metaphor for running, and
running, and RUNNING...
and when you're done....
your absolutely ...NO WHERE!
got off my treadmill of excuses
not so long ago...
preferring nature...mountains,
and rivers of WA. State.

keep writing, if you have a blooming poetic soul!
