Within a heart beat lies
the hopes of our world.
And the world needs
a cardiovascular surgeon.
Through out my life
Ive felt its dying throes.
Within each raised hand
and angry screaming voice
I've felt it calm from
a gentle and caring touch
And felt its rising beat
in the throes of passion.
Yet reaching out beyond
my private microcosm
Where I have some ability
to cure its sickness
I've touched on the pulse
of a world grown mad.
With a fervor and fever
that could destroy a world
And I've wondered...
How can a man cure such an illness?
And sadly realized...
A single man can not.
For a single man is but a part
a vast and powerful stream.
And within that vascular stream
Lies both the poison and the cure.
Then I look at my young children
Sadly unprepared... and so
Begin the first step by
opening their eyes to reality
Each man and woman, I've learned
effects and influences
All the life forces
In the world around them.
You have the ability
to make another laugh, cry
Or strive for a dream.
Through your choices and actions
So choose your friends wisely
Use your natural surgical skills
To remove the infection around you
And make the world a better place...for all
This is the wisdom , motivation, and legacy I leave you..
So as Spock would say now... "Grow strong and prosper."

different and interesting,to me at least. i liked this,its something to think about and in so many ways true. I liked how its true that one person cannot heal the world,but they can help others and spread positiveness and good will around. If only everyone tried that. I enjoyed reading this. good write.= )

Amazing.
Too many times we ignore the fact that it takes people working together to cure what ails us. In accepting this fact I believe we all ought to stop right now with the negatives and put forth positives. I would not change anything about this poem.

after reading the first stanza, i thought this would take a turn, and kind of rant about everything in the world that is bad. but it didnt this was very uplifting, and the title reaffirms the the end.
i loved reading this.

Your intuativeness in this and thoughts on life as it is fantastic.I like what you had to say and agree wholeheartedly.I responded as every one should react with a strong sense of wanting to help to be a part of influencing people in the right way and not put down and belittle someone for what they may have done wrong but help them and give them praise for what they did right.We do all have the influence one's life just by how we act with them and our attitude.Great job on this I enjoyed reading this.
