It really is a pleasant place to share some friendly cheer
Inviting friends and family for a barbecue and beer
The mozzies won't be a problem, the screen keeps them at bay
No better place will you find to unwind from busy day
Weekend comes and time to relax here on our comfy porch
When night falls the kids search the tree for possums, with a torch
Feeding them on crusts of bread but careful they just may bite
It entertains the kids for hours 'til time to say goodnight
Sometimes a Mother possum has her baby on her back
Cautiously she'll come closer in search of a tasty snack
I guess we shouldn't complain when on our roof they do thump
In the middle of the night it can make you really jump
This porch is a happy place, so won't you come and join me
Always a good time to be had of that you'd have to agree
We may sit enjoying the peaceful quiet atmosphere
Or have a roudy party all the neighborhood can hear

Excellent. Nothing like a barbeque to to get all your friends together and have a good yarn, is there. The picture sets off the poem quite well. As for hunting for possums by torchlight. You obviously don't live in the city area, do you? You must be able to get really close to them to feed them at night. I have rescued many on my job, and they are so soft to the touch. Very delicate creatures to this inviroment. What type of possums are you talking about here? Your flow and rhyme were perfect and the rhythm was just right. Really, the whole piece just portrayed a cheery scene with lots and lots of friends enjoying themslves together while the children had so much fun. Great. I couldn't see anything that needed changing.

Possums are more considerate than racoons- they don't turn over garbage cans! I liked your connection between the folks chillin' and the critters messing about! Same w/ squirrels... Thank you!
