In a moment of clarity,
the layers pealed away.
I see myself, perhaps,
for the very first time
without names, chains, or,
maybe without illusions.
For once in my life, I am
without the benefit of a
lie or a sharp barb from
some other persons point
of view, so i am able to
draw my own conclusions.
I am, that is, slightly
in poverty with all the
fake material things, idols
that simple fools worship
when they can't feel the
cal of the soul anymore.
But i am wealthy, for I Am
myself; i have love, I am
in love, have children who
love and respect me, daddy,
and i ask you honestly,
who could need anything more?
I have the time now to be
meditating for a whole hour,
to do rituals, spells, and
to worship as i see fit, so
why would i need gold or a
pack of silly baubles and Ipods?
No, i have myself, and it's
good enough for me. My altar.
My time, on my schedule, to
perform the masses of Isthar,
worship and adore my family,
and pray to my Heathen Gods.

Simple approach. Hope it works.

thank you for your contribution to this contest, dear poet ... I like simplicity, so your "simple approach works"

your poem is well structured and offers a progression in your thought-process that can be easily followed ...
the first stanza of your poem is my absolute favorite, it is full of universal truth and clarity, and truly inspiring and precious ... it certainly speaks to many of those who have shared similar experiences of this spaciousness without conditioning ... for me, it could even stand as a poem in itself ...
further on, you offer us a peek into your inner world, your concerns and priorities, your treasures, both human and spiritual, your way of connecting with yourself through meditation and worship ...
thank you for this precious poem,
maa
