Hear that train a-rollin'
A-rollin' down the line
Hear that whistle blowin'
I'm nearly out of time
Winter's soon a-comin'
I can feel her icy wind
Yesterday's gone forever
Tomorrow's about to begin
Don't know where I'm goin'
On this road that leads me to
I just wander with each moment
There was once a time I knew
Now yesterday's gone forever
Tomorrow's hard on it's heels
Just hear that train a-comin'
Blowin' steam across the fields
I've travelled a million miles
To see where it might lead
And sold all my tomorrows
On a wing and prayer gone to seed
Winter's soon a-comin'
I can feel her icy wind
Yesterday's gone forever
Tomorrow's about to begin
Can you hear that train a-rollin'
As it rumbles down the track
Yesterday has gone forever
And I ain't comin' back...

A very good conceptual theme, I think it reads a little too similar to the tune of "I walk the line" and to some extent "rawhide" dancing inside my head. thanks for your entry and good luck.

Very well created ...
lyrics that let me here the tune of 'Cash' ... and truly one can't go back ... but one can surely feel the excitement with the present or gift, whichever you choose ... all down a fine track of sensory awareness! Some good country lyrics here!
