You’ve every right to be!
Have you been taking in all that’s made the spotlight
all the hype and the spin, while newscasters grin
speaking of the sin and the abomination?
This is not the high life!
There’s much strife, duplicity, hypocrisy
lack of Democracy in a land
that was supposed to be a Republic!
What of it, you say?
Are you OK?
How can you turn away and pretend
that the way life is now doesn’t offend?
We’ve lost sight on Whom we must depend!
The dollar bill still says in Him we trust
but it’s He we bring to dust with the activities
we’d rater engage in, those that enrage Him!
How long do we think we can teeter on the brink
of total moral collapse, sinking in the morass
of decadence and negligence of all that matters
living lives that scatter and displace?
It’s a disgrace that a nation that once led the world
with its prosperity and tenacity should fall into depravity
laughing at its ignorance and lack of perspicacity!
Feeling tense?
You’ve every right to be!

Author notes
Job 34:21 For His eyes are upon the ways of man, and He seeth all his goings.
Pr 5:21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of Yah, and He pondereth all his goings.
Jer 10:23 O Yah, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
Ga 6:7 Be not deceived; Elohim is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Re 14:15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. {ripe: or, dried}

wow do i detect anger here in this wonderful politico/socio commentary i love the way you keep your religion/faith outside the poem here and include the odd note,,,,,beneath lol..even though it's bigger than the poem....reminds one of G B Shaw, his prefaces were longer than his plays..but combined a masterpeice..keep well she with the migraigne avatar lol

Not anger...angst! This contest came up & there was a lot going on at the time I wrote this so it just spilled out. The AN isn't longer than the poem.
Some of my writes are really short & then I do a Bible Study in my AN!
I remind you of G B Shaw? Wow...
Migraine avatar?
BTW...I didn't totally keep my faith out of the poem. Where I go & what I do displays my faith...almost always.
for the read & comment.

Thanks for speaking up I so agree! Our country is going to the dogs so to speak. Everyday I worry what will happen next. Thanks for sharing, hugs Theresa

TY
for bringing me back here Theresa! I need to send this to a sister of mine in my Congregation who's not sure that I've the right 'politics'!
I only follow Father & The Savior & am appalled by what goes on in the world & this country. I pray
a lot for our country & the world at large that there'll be a repentance, but I also know that what's prophesied will come about 'cause man is always taking the course of destruction without knowledge of The Word. Thanks for your read & comment dear one. Running late.
Love that pix of your grand.
She always brings a smile to my face. So beautiful.

You speak nothing but the truth, sister.

I'm
in His bonds to do so. I'm merely a scribe for Him. Speak I must.

The concept behind this is quite good, and it is cleverly crafted, a nice wrtite indeed
have a nice day

TY!
Glad you made it here & that you liked it!

I agree with the other commenter, this piece does hearken to a poetry slam. It's a great and different style for tackling an old subject. You put a new fresh spin on well read verses. You brought the Word to life! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so
much for reading & your kind comments!

I love it like I love all of your poems. I just have absolutely no disappointment in you. Every time I read a poem you shock me with how good it is. you just make me feel so in your world not in my own. It's almost addicting to keep going back to your page to read more.

-
-
And
I love hearing from you! You're really lifting my spirits dear one. I love seeing your cute 'lil face there. You sort of remind me of myself at your age...only happier. Hey....where do you live? It's already 9:05 here on the East Coast. Shouldn't you be getting ready for school with an early bed time? Don't get addicted to my writes, but do come back & you keep writing too!

It is true that we are the cause of our own problems. We fill our lives up with so many empty things and then wonder why we are not fulfilled. And you are right about the depravity, too. It is depressing to dwell on it for too long. All we can do is try our best to influence others for good.

Thanks for
reading Jade & your comments! We will have to pay the cost for our indulgences & greed. Our only Salvation is coming back soon & He'll put all in order! HalleluYAH...can't wait 'til He gets here!

The subject you attack head on, which is great, but also the use of internal rhyme in this piece is striking! It would sound great recited at a poetry slam, I bet. Well done!

-
-
Oh...
would that I could! I'd love to be able to give poetry reading a try at a "slam" ! ?
I'm a Singer/Songwriter with a bit of actress in me & think I'd like that very much. Sadly I'm mostly home bound due to illness. I'm working on seeing if I can get a web cam & who knows...perhaps I'll be able to record myself reading & singing & get the video up on the Net. That's the goal. We'll see if I get there. Thanks for your encouraging comment!

this was good
it really is a good write about being tense
in this society we forget about the bible and the scripture and what they mean to us
author notes really are good
I love this poem as a scripture too.
right now this poem helped me

-
'Tis time to whisk this away to Poetry Planet, and we thank you for sharing your considerable talent and good heart with us.
-
True and wonderfully penned, dear Poet.
I am so happy that I read this poem because it validates what I have thought for so long.
May I please post this remarkable poem on the poetry blog that I run for a newspaper in California? It is called "Poetry Planet" and we get a LOT of hits every day... and of course your name and copyright would be on the poem.

Well written.... thought provoking and sad....

This is a very good piece of work and i guess this could be likened to the whole world. Morals everything seem to be slipping right thorugh the cracks and it seems that noone cares a jig. I thought this was well said and well setout. A fine piece of work indeed.

-
excellent~
Yes
Your right we should be feeling tense...
Who knows what will happen in our world next...
Stock markets crash and fall...........homes are foreclosed on.......banks going out of business..
Yes I think we have a right to feel tense...
Okay time for my sleeping pill so I can get calm and forget the woes...that is until I wake up tomorrow
Penned excellent
Hugs
Susan~~~

I imagine this to be something one of my teachers on a soap box would be saying. or a preacher. i can hear a booming voice 'preaching' at me, and myself cowering in fear. lol.
i feel kinda tense, like i need a cigarette now. -
-
LOL....
I didn't want to make anyone want to smoke coffin nails!
I am a Music Minister who's been more of a Minister with lyric & poetry of late. I suppose since you say you're feeling tense & need a ciggie that this has had an emotional effect on you! Hope it precipitates thought as it was meant to. Thanks for reading. I was thinking at one time of becoming an English teacher & have done some teaching. Don't smoke too much now!
-
-
ha ha. i really dont smoke that often, just when i need something else in my hand so i dont kill someone when angy, or when my biological 'father' comes around. and i hope you dont take offense, but anything religious usually makes me reach for a cigarette. just a habit by now i suppose.
